Though big bellies are becoming more prevalent nowadays, we can all agree that it is not a part of the ideal physique that many TEENs constantly dream about.
It is no wonder then that so many TEENs become so health conscious and even shuddered from embarrassment when Leftside and Esco sang Tuck Een Yuh Belly. Many TEENs have gone to the extremity where they completely avoid fatty foods and soda and perform daily ab work-outs to achieve, what many term a perfectly voluptuous figure or the "coco-cola bottle shape" and the sturdy six pack abs. But what exactly are the most honest ways of ensuring a flat and healthy abdomen?
Firstly, it is very important that you understand how your body functions and make a comprehensive plan on how you will achieve your aim over a reasonable period of time.
1 It is advisable to do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise everyday. This may include brisk walking, jogging or simply cycling which is rather more exciting. Getting an exercise partner who is equally committed to the task can prove helpful. Aerobics can also be conducted while listening to some soca or calypso music that will certainly put you in the groove!
2 Performing whole body work-outs, such as yoga or a weight-lifting programme, two to three times per week are also great ways of getting a sleek tummy. These exercises enhance the muscles and increase metabolism.
3 Holding your stomach muscles in during the day will strengthen your abdominal girdle and create a flatter stomach. Maintaining an erect posture while sitting also tightens the stomach muscles.
4 Allocating some time to do bend stretches will stretch out your stomach muscles and restrain them from becoming shortened.
5 Managing your stress through relaxing methods of exercise such as yoga and even just getting adequate sleep. When you are well rested and not stressed the amount of cortisol in your body will be reduced.
Note: Cortisol is a hormone that regulates carbohydrate metabolism and blood pressure. During stressful periods the cortisol boosts your energy level by producing more glucose. If you are always stressed then you will have too much of this hormone which will constantly stimulate your appetite and keep the glucose level high. The body will, therefore, convert excess glucose into fat, which is usually stored in the midsection for quick access by your body.
6 Another way of eliminating stress, for a flatter stomach is through meditation. Meditate for 10-20 minutes at least twice every day, once in the morning and once in the later part of the day. This will set the tone for your day and help curb the automatic stress response.
7 Eating lots of fruits and vegetables such as bananas and apples which have low proportions of calories. These will not only help you to lose that extra fat, but also to maintain a healthy diet.
